896.M41. Eastern Fringes of the Imperium. Orwhan IV.
Game System: Space Weirdos
Players: Mus and Justin
As the Arvus lighter was buffeted by the turbulent atmosphere during orbital entry, Inquisitor Bekir cursed his luck. Once a rising star within the Ordo Xenos of the Inquisition, he had the misfortune to tying his fortune to his former mentor, the now disgraced Inquisitor Thrax. As a result he had been all but banished to the outermost Eastern fringes chasing down supposed Xenos threats that inevitably turned out to be drunken stories blown out of proportion or pure fiction.
This next "mission" had all the hallmarks of the latter. Orwhan IV was a semi-arid wasteland of a world, so utterly unremarkable in the broad view of the Imperium as a whole it rarely even appeared on official void maps. However, it had been rumoured that Xenos artifacts had been recovered from an archeological expedition and now the planet's communications with the broader Imperium had fallen silent. Thus Inquisitor Bekir was tasked with investigating this insignificant dustball...
Trooper Melbor eased his finger from the ignition trigger of his flamer as the promethium tanks on his back ran dry. The Xenos was little more than a burning husk at this point and the air was filled with the stench of blood and burning flesh. He looked about, conscious o the fact his entire squad had been ambushed and killed - including his inquisitor who was torn limb fron limb by a towering Xenos monstrosity that stood twice the height of a man. With his weapon now empty he suddenly became acutely aware of movement amongst the shadows closing in on his position and the fact that with the Inquisitor's death he had no way to contact their support lander...
Result: Imperium Minor Victory!
